2003 St. Supery Dollarhide Cabernet Sauvignon
The color on this vintage is rich, an almost purple dark red. On the nose, I smelled some smokey dark fruit, a little bit of currant, a little bit of tannin (that smell of alcohol). When swirling the wine in your glass, you can see the alcohol content is pretty high, as you can see the swirl pattern of the wine linger on the glass. On the palate, I taste the same as I smelled (hopefully that means my nose is betting better at identifying the flavors in the wine!). The tannin does subsides a lot once it breathes a bit and gets better with some hearty protein – STEAK (medium rare)!
